Webinar “Reverse Migration impact – How to address the issue and increase livelihoods of Migrant Laborers Post COVID 19” to be held on June 24, 2020 between 1600-1730 hrs IST.

COVID-19 brought the issue of migration in limelight in India, 1 out of 3 Indians are migrants. The imposition of the lockdown as a measure to contain the exponential progression of the COVID-19 pandemic has hit the unskilled, and semi-skilled migrant worker’s the most. The exodus of migrants due to the lockdown will hit this vulnerable class the most. Due to COVID 19, massive reverse migration, it is estimated that around 30% of the migrants will not go back where they were working. All the major Cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore might face issues of labour crunch post lockdown. Also there is an urgent need to integrate migration into rural development.
